Avalon is the first medical school accredited on the island

Avalon University School of Medicine
WILLEMSTAD - Avalon University School of Medicine, Curacao is delighted to inform that the Accreditation Commission on Colleges of Medicine (ACCM) has accredited them.

According to the regulation of the Educational Commission for Foreign Medical Graduates (ECFMG), starting in 2023, individuals applying for ECFMG certification must be a student or graduate of a medical school that is appropriately accredited.  More specifically, the school must be accredited by an accrediting agency that is officially recognized by the World Federation for Medical Education (WFME).

So far, WFME has recognized 20 accreditation bodies across the world, including ACCM.

The administration, faculty, and students of Avalon are excited for obtaining ACCM accreditation which enables our students and graduates to sit for the United States Medical Licensing Exams (USMLE) exams and practice medicine in the USA.  Even more, Avalon is extremely proud to be the first and only accredited medical school on the island of Curacao.  We want to take this opportunity to thank the premier's office, the office of the Ministry of Health, and the office of the Ministry of Education.

The university wants to thank Prime Minister Sr. Eugene Rhuggenaath, Minister of Health, Nature, and Environment Mrs. Susanne Camelia Romer, and Minister of Education, Culture, and Sports Mrs. Marilyn Alcala-Walle.

Our Mission:
The mission of Avalon University School of Medicine is to prepare competent physicians who can serve communities locally and around the world. Avalon graduates are committed to patient safety and public health while maintaining the highest standards of professionalism and ethical behavior required for medical practice.
